Rise is an 18×24” oil on canvas painting made in early 2023.
This was one of 20+ mid-sized paintings I made during the first few months of 2023 after leaving my job to pursue painting. It was a time when I was feeling particularly free of the burdens of my past career and that freedom had me painting in a bold, loose and often playful manor, using brighter and more saturated colors all on display in this work.
